In my opinion that is not the case.
I happen to think the single most important thing about starting a home based business online is determining the product that you will sell. The future success of your business starts and ends with the quality of your product.
If you are fortunate enough to have a product of your own already then you probably know it is a good product. At this point all you really need to do is determine the pricing levels that you want to set for your products, and you are ready to get started.
The real advantage to having your own product is you can promote it from a position of experience. Selling products on the Internet are more easily done when you can pre resell them.
Pre selling is really explaining the benefits of the product to your visitors. You do this by taking the features and converting those into ways a customer can view them as personal benefits.
If you do not have a product of your own then you will be considering different ideas such as affiliate marketing. This is a great business model to join because you get to sell other peoples products.
The most successful affiliate marketers are people who pre sell their products based on personal experience. To do this you are going to want to research various products and in some cases actually buy them before you begin to sell them.
The more benefits that you can come up with for your product of the better off you will be. You certainly want your product to be competitive in the marketplace, but your ability to explain everything about your product will allow you to sell it at a higher price.
A customer is willing to pay any more for a product if they see the value in it. That is why having a quality product and pre-selling goes hand in hand. So when you start your own home based business you want to approach it that way.
Hopefully this article will dispel the myth that money is the most important thing to consider when starting a home-based business. You certainly are going into business to make a profit product, but your product will be the determining factor on how you do that.
